Attention all builders and home
buyers!!!
The City
of St. George, Washington City and Washington County are
now requiring all new homes to show compliance with the 2006
IECC (energy code).
There
are two ways to look at the new St.George requirement.
- GOSH!!... Just one more thing I need to
get my building permit!
- OR.....This could save me money, make the home more
comfortable and increase the resale value because it shows it is
an Energy Efficient Home.
What is a Rescheck (still called
Meccheck by many) A Rescheck is a calculation done
by a computer program that helps determine the overall
energy efficiency of a home. It uses calculations
based on the different components that effect the energy efficiency
of a particular building or home. They include walls, ceiling,
floors and slabs as well as windows, doors and skylights. The
program also considers the area or climate that the home is going to
be built. Therefor a house that will pass easily being built in the
St. George area may fail in a climate of Cedar City or Pine Valley.
Every city, town and county in Utah is required by law to show
compliance with the 2003 IECC (International Energy Conservation
Code)for homes built in Utah.
Anyone can produce
the REScheck Compliance Report. The computer program was developed
by the Dept. of
Energy and can be downloaded FREE of
charge. If you have not used the program it may take you some time
to learn the program and make the proper inputs.
We can produce the
basic report for you. We normally charge $25-$75 depending on the
size and complexity of the home and its components. A typical
price breakdown is as follows*.
Up to 2,000 sq.ft.
Total living space.

grade or with crawlspace…. $25.00
